Papecraft Rupee by Cristophine Papecraft Rupee by Cristophine
Another prop for my Link cosplay - a rupee.

I couldn't find a paper craft template for a rupee so I made my own. When I made my rupee though, I cut two patterns out of blue and yellow acetate paper, glued them together at the tabs to create green, then folded it up and glued the rupee together. I used hotglue. I plan on making a few more, some blue and yellow ones, to take as well.

Thanks so much for this :) I'm working on a Nabooru cosplay and I was thinking that this method might work but I couldn't find any examples of anyone doing the same. It looks amazing and light weight which is extra awesome for a headpiece. Thanks again!

i know this is off topic but would some of that paper that is clear work for a helmet for a capt. Olimar papercraft from pikmin
Cristophine Featured By Owner Aug 9, 2011  Hobbyist Artisan Crafter
Thanks :)
I don't see why it wouldn't work. You might have a difficult time trying to make it round, but with a lot of glue and patience it should work just fine.

I always imagined the really valuable rupees (500 or so) would be that big. I never thought that a one rupee crystal or even a 50 rupee crystal would be any larger than a coin (2€ or something to that effect).
Cristophine Featured By Owner Jun 10, 2010  Hobbyist Artisan Crafter
lol this is probably true but it's a lot easier to fold larger pieces of acetate paper than smaller ones
PapercraftNinjaMan Featured By Owner Apr 19, 2010  Hobbyist Artisan Crafter
hmm.. the crystal-like texture looks alot like plexi-glass

oooh! I've got some paper ones, and your template as well, but I likes it! I have to find some of that acetate paper- it looks WAY cooler than my regular ones. I might make me a bag for em too, my grandma will let me use the sewing machine :D

takushiru Featured By Owner Apr 11, 2008
nice job but i was wondering if it was possible to make it looks good as it is just trying to make a wallet like links for cosplay and fillen it with these....
Cristophine Featured By Owner Apr 11, 2008  Hobbyist Artisan Crafter
Ya it shouldn't be a problem, just resize the template before you print it out. If you use the acetate paper you might have a problem gluing it if it's too small, but you should be able to overcome that with a little patience. :)

This is pretty damn awesome :P
Looking at it at first I thought you actually cut it out of some 'mineral' or something :P

Nice one :+fav:

Looks awesome! The template looks good too! I like your idea of using the two colors of acetate paper :D The color looks a lot deeper using the 2 sheets as well.

Cool! just 998 more to go. XD Yall do have an "Adult Wallet" dont ya?
1sand0s Featured By Owner Dec 1, 2007  Hobbyist Artisan Crafter
Now I know why Link could only hold 99 at a time. And I guess the "big wallet" was "wheelbarrow" in the original Japanese. :)

Now you've gone and made me want to try and fold one using modular origami... it's brilliant how you used the acetate paper to achieve two effects at once; to change the color of the original paper and make it crystalline as well. Where can you find this type paper? I'd like to try some other origami models using it.
Cristophine Featured By Owner Dec 1, 2007  Hobbyist Artisan Crafter
Thanks ^_^ I got mine at a surplus store, but I think you can find it at stores like Staples or other office supply stores.
1sand0s Featured By Owner Dec 1, 2007  Hobbyist Artisan Crafter
Sweet! I'll have to go tonight and see if I can find some. I really like that transparent effect on geodesic (3D) shapes. Again, good job on designing that yourself. B-)
